In this issue of our newsletter we will show how potential CO2 savings can be identified and, consequently, how your environmental image with your consumers can be improved. Together with our partner, Soil & More International BV, Intact has developed a module for determining a product’s carbon footprint.
Intact has also been innovative in the certification of smallholders groups and of companies that have organized contract farmer groups. A recent advance in this sector is a new web-based administration and internal inspection tool launched by Intact to support group certifications.
Religious certification schemes, like Halal and Kosher, are raising more and more attention and are growing markets. With our pioneering software Intact is ideally placed to offer suitable solutions in these matters.
Finally, we like to inform you that we will participate at the Organic World Congress in South Korea (September 26 – October 5) and the GLOBALG.A.P. Tour in Atlanta, USA (October 17-18). 1. Product carbon footprint – new Intact software available
|
 Together with its partner, Soil & More International BV, Intact has developed a carbon footprint software that simplifies carbon assessments of product chains in agriculture, the food industry and trade, enabling users to carry out carbon assessments of product chains independently and to identify the CO2 saving potential. Available since November 2010, the carbon calculation software is a module of the worldwide successfully used certification software, Ecert.

2. New module for group certification for smallholders and companies with organized contract farming groups
|
 The application of an internal control system is extremely demanding, and often groups – particularly smallholder groups – encounter problems due to poor administration and inadequate documentation. In addition, the specific requirements of various certification systems (like organic, fair trade, UtzCertified or GLOBALG.A.P.) differ enormously, resulting in smallholder groups being faced with additional costs and market entry barriers. The Intact module, however, offers various advantages.

3. Religious certification schemes like Halal and Kosher are raising attention
|
 Halal certification is a growing market in the food certification sector. RIKILT Institute in the Netherlands recently published a paper predicting that in the near future nearly 20% of all food production will be under certified Halal standards. Kosher certification is also a growing market, but is regionally focused on the US market and Israel.

4. Intact at the Organic World Congress and the GLOBALG.A.P. Tour
|
 Intact will be represented by Gerald A. Herrmann, Managing Director of Organic Services, Intact’s global sales partner, at the 17th IFOAM Organic World Congress in South Korea (Gyeonggi Paldang) from September 26 to October 5, 2011. On October 17 – 18, 2011 Intact will also attend the GLOBALG.A.P. Tour in Atlanta (USA).
