Lugitsch – is a name synonymous with a service and quality in the Austrian poultry business. This family business stands out from the crowd because of its company motto: “class instead of mass”.
Lugitsch is a poultry trader, selling high quality products under the brand name “Steirerhuhn”. Contracted poultry farmers, who voluntarily fulfil very strong regulations, are integrated in the company’s quality programme.

Requirements
It was the goal of Lugitsch and its farmers to become the market leader in the production of high quality poultry. The company, therefore, wanted to build a unique quality assurance programme in which the whole production process could be documented by all partners involved. Incoming data could then be analysed and used for quality improvement actions.
In addition, Lugitsch knew its communication with the poultry farmers needed to be improved. Farmers needed to be able to benefit from quality analyses and simplified internal handling.

Services
The software system Nutriweb was adapted to the particularities of the poultry sector. At the same time as the software installation, Intact also supported Lugitsch in setting up and implementing the concept of a quality programme and an external inspection system.

Since June 2006 Lugitsch‘s poultry breeding farmers have been connected to the Internet and diligently enter their production data into the Internet based software Nutriweb. They record items such as the purchase of fledglings, feed and water consumption, diseases, costs and slaughtering. Along with the farmers support industries, such as contracted feed suppliers, veterinaries and an independent inspection body, also have access to the system.

A big advantage of working with Nutriweb is that farmers can now compare themselves with other supplying farmers. Lugitsch, the central buyer and seller of the poultry, can react quickly in case of a quality issues regarding a single producer.
